The exhibition "Italo Design 1968-1978" was inaugurated on friday 19th of october, at the Museum of Transport of Luzern, dedicated for the italian style of the 70s. At the exhibition there are 10 cars of the Lopresto Collection, all of them are prototypes or rarities, in order to tell about the era of great fantasy and great changes.
In the 70s for the italian coachbuilders were hard years, the market of the custom-built cars disappears and the only way in order to survived was to collaborate with big car manufacturers.
In this way a lot of proposals destined to italian and foreign brands were born, but not all were produced. At the same time the show-car, cars with extreme shapes, become the main attractions of international car show and all of the most important designers started to create cars with futuristic features.
In occasion of 24 Hours of Elegance in Belgrade, the event dedicated to vintage cars, fashion and art, the Lopresto Collection has brought the Alfa Romeo Giulietta Sprint Veloce "Molteni Speciale", winning the Best in Show.
The car winne is a unique car realized by Aristide Molteni in the second half of the 50s, changing the Giulietta Sprint Veloce to improve aerodynamic result.
The result it's a new car, that challenged with success the very fast Sprint Zagato.
In occasion of Stefano Ricci Heritage Trophy, the Lopresto Collection has brought in Florence two exceptional Alfa Romeo.
The event was chosen for the debut of the Alfa Romeo 1900C Super Sprint "La Flèche" Vignale, fresh from the restoration. A cabriolet with a short chassis deisgned by Giovanni Michelotti is a unique car presented at the Salone di Torino in 1955. The car shows the typical style of the designer from Turin, with rich chromed decorations and refined shapes.
The car has always stayed in Italy, is remembered for the guest appearance in the movie "Sapore di mare 2" and "Giovanni Senza pensieri" in the 80s. Together with "la Flèche" was present the very elegant Alfa Romeo 6C 2500 Sport Berlinetta Touring of 1939.
The two cars were part of a little group of prototypes by equipped by Isotta Fraschini between 1947 and 1948 to try a comeback in the world of cars. The project of Luigi Rapi stood out for the new V8 engine assembled in a back position. The two displayed cars in Basilea were restored in the first months of 2017 and after brought to the US, where they participated successfully at the Concours d'Elegence of Pebble Beach, that last year has dedicated 3 classes for Isotta Fraschini. Back in Europe now they can be admired as they were presented at the debut.
For the first time this year the Lopresto Collection has participated at the Piombino-Livorno 1901, a gathering for means (cars and motorcycles) with more than 100 years. The second re-enactment of the first car Tuscan car competition, took place on Saturday 21st of April and there were 17 cars and 3 motorcycles. The oldest was a Aster of 1902.
For the occasion Corrado Lopresto brought the Lancia 12HP "Alfa" of 1908, one of the three existing cars of the first model produced by the Turin car manufacturer and the oldest model.
It's the chassis 102, sold in the US where it was with bodywork by Miller&Bros.
After the success of two years ago, with the victory of Best in Show at the first edition of the Concours d'Elegnce of Kyoto, the Lopresto Collection is back to triumph in Japan. The second edition of the concours, took place in the first weekend of April, has seen starring the bodywork Touring, with many cars.
Even this year the cars were guests in the Nijo Castle of Kyoto, UNESCO World heritage, thanks to the organization of Hidetomo Kimura, creator of the concours.
The Lopresto Collection, that in 2016 won the first prize with the Alfa Romeo 6C 2500 SS Bertone, has brought in Japan the very elegant 6C 2500 Sport Berlinetta Touring, masterpiece of 1939 built in few examples.
The car won the first place of its category (Touring Early Italian).
The Best in Show was won by a 6C 2500 SS Villa d'Este of 1951.
